In Ecuador, a 12-year-old child was living under a lie facing sexual exploitation.

An adult had convinced the child that he was family and someone they could trust, someone who had authority in their life. He then used that false identity to gain control and sexually exploit, creating a reality that no child should ever have to navigate.

But investigators with the Ecuadorian National Police Children’s Task Force and the Attorney General’s Office committed themselves to uncovering the truth. They followed leads, conducted surveillance, and carefully gathered the information they needed.

The Our Rescue team in Latin America supported the rescue operation by helping ensure officers had what they needed to move the case forward without disruption.

On February 20, that careful work led to decisive action. Law enforcement arrested the suspect and removed the 12-year-old from the situation, bringing them into safety. In those first critical moments, Our Rescue Survivor Care supported officers in transporting her to the Attorney General’s Office so she could receive witness protection services and continued care as the case moves ahead.

Because of people like you supporting our mission, one 12-year-old child is no longer under the control of the person who was sexually exploiting her.

Now, she is safe.
