In Ecuador, a 16-year-old Venezuelan minor was allegedly being sex trafficked and exploited. The case began when local authorities received a troubling missing minor report and possible child exploitation through the 911 call center in Guayaquil.

That urgent reality set a multi-agency response into motion on October 25. The Our Rescue team in Ecuador supported Operation CODIGO RESCATE 318 alongside the Ecuadorian National Police (ENP) Anti-Trafficking Unit (UNAT) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

Investigators learned that the person suspected of trafficking had gained the young minor’s trust, prompting ENP UNAT—under the direction of the FGE—to act swiftly. Specialized tactical units requested logistical support from Our Rescue.

During the operation, authorities arrested the suspect in connection with the case. The 16-year-old Venezuelan minor was safely recovered and connected to a specialized shelter for care and support. Four additional adult female survivors were also brought to safety and referred to services.

This effort was part of Operation Global Impact 2025 (OGI), a worldwide initiative strengthening the fight against sex trafficking and child exploitation.

Rescue happens when we work together. As we close out the year, Operation Giving Tree is an opportunity for supporters to strengthen this crucial work.
