In Ecuador, a 17-year-old girl was missing from her hometown after she was falsely promised a job by suspicious men. What seemed like an opportunity quickly became a trap, and she was forced into sexual exploitation. Her case sparked an investigation that would lead to the rescue of two teenage girls in Quito during Operation Global Impact 2025.
On October 1, 2025, a rescue operation was initiated at a night club in Quito.
The investigation began when the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (UNAT), under the direction of the Attorney General’s Office (FGE), received the initial report of the missing girl. Lured away from her family, she was trafficked to a night club across the country, where she was sold for sex for as little as $20–$40 per encounter.
With logistical and operational support from Our Rescue, UNAT gathered confidential tips, conducted community interviews, and worked closely with the survivor’s family. Their efforts eventually led them to the night club, where suspicions grew that additional minors were being held.
Working with the Attorney General’s Office, Ministry of Interior, specialized tactical groups, and police, authorities launched Operation Codigo Rescate 262. In a coordinated raid, two Ecuadorian nationals were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the trafficking network. Inside, investigators found the two teenage girls, who had been forced to present falsified identification documents to conceal their true ages.
The raid also uncovered key evidence, including cell phones, fraudulent identity documents, surveillance equipment, and other items connected to the trafficking scheme. As part of its commitment to protecting children and teens, the government of Ecuador ordered the premises to be shut down.
The results:
- 2 teenage survivors rescued (both 17 years old). Both are mothers of children 1–2 years old.
- 2 suspects arrested, with additional suspects under investigation.
- Electronic Storage Detection K9 Samai assisted in locating three electronic storage media devices.
This is what can be achieved when law enforcement, international organizations, and communities work together. Many young girls remain at risk and are in need of help.
Our teams on the ground are providing ongoing support to the survivors, including meals, medical and psychological care, and safe transportation to specialized shelters where they and their children can begin healing.
