A South American man allegedly produced and distributed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of a 14-year-old.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children CyberTipline was the first to hear of this potential crime. With it being within their jurisdiction, the Ecuadorian National Police (ENP) got involved.

Unidad Contra La Trata (UNAT), the ENP’s specialized human trafficking unit, took the lead on an investigation. They were able to identify the minor, who they believed was being forced to pose for explicit images.

After a request for assistance, OUR Rescue supported their efforts in numerous ways. We helped organize logistics for the operation, supported cyber intelligence work, and provided on-scene support when the search and arrest warrants were carried out.

On May 16, 2024, UNAT officials arrested the man suspected of exploiting the 14-year-old minor. During a search of his home, authorities seized nine digital devices and a firearm. The devices are now being investigated.

Officials also rescued the minor.

While OUR Rescue Survivor Care was not requested at the time of the minor’s rescue, authorities have since asked for it. We are currently supporting her on her healing journey.
