In August of 2025, Alberto de la Huerta, Regional Director of Our Rescue’s Latin America Team, visited Lima, Peru, to help the Peruvian National Police (PNP) celebrate the inauguration of the Human Trafficking Center (HTC) in Lima’s urban district of Lince. PNP senior leadership and local dignitaries gathered to recognize this important milestone in the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation.
The Peruvian National Police Directorate Against Human Trafficking and Illicit Trafficking of Migrants Intelligence leads investigations that focus on transnational criminal organizations operating across Peru. These highly organized criminal networks, including Tren de Aragua, are responsible for human trafficking and sexual exploitation in-country and around the world. And they are increasing in size, number, and reach.
With advancements in technology, these human trafficking networks are leveraging new online tactics to facilitate and conceal their criminal activities. At the same time, Peruvian law enforcement has certain limitations, lacking the necessary office infrastructure and equipment needed to investigative crimes of human trafficking and child exploitation to the full extent. Police have encountered obstacles that can hinder their ability to collect and analyze evidence effectively.
“The official launch of the new Human Trafficking Center in Lince is a major step forward in overcoming obstacles or any potential shortcomings in the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation,” said de la Huerta. “Our Rescue is a proud partner of the PNP, supporting office renovations and providing technological and investigative equipment that will increase capacity for full investigations and will help strengthen the evidence development process.”

The new Human Trafficking Center will help challenge those conditions by bringing resources, expertise, and partnerships together under one roof.
