Every day, children and young people spend more of their lives online, learning, connecting, and exploring the world around them. At the same time, they are exposed to increased risk from predators and trafficking networks lurking in that same “digital ocean” – searching for their next victim. In Thailand specifically, children are not as likely to report their experiences of online exploitation. In 2022, UNICEF reported that 47% of children surveyed in a study in Thailand said they would not know where to get help if they or a friend were sexually assaulted or harassed.

Prevention begins with knowledge and awareness. Ideally, this education begins in early childhood, with age-appropriate conversations that help children recognize unsafe situations, seek support from trusted adults, and know how and where to report concerns. Parents, teachers, care givers, and law enforcement can come together to support children of all ages – vulnerable individuals of all ages – helping to shield them from online predators. Partnership is essential to ensuring children’s safety.

Our Rescue Thailand has partnered with the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) of the Royal Thai Police to deliver a prevention and training program focused on safeguarding students from online sexual exploitation.

This educational session took place at the Panyapiwat Institute of Management Demonstration School, where approximately 140 ‘Year 11’ students participated in an interactive ‘real life’ tutorial designed to strengthen awareness, prevention, and digital safety skills.

Officers from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, including Pol. Lt. Col. Pakrit Krittayapong, Pol. Capt. Kritsakorn Kongsaksri, and Pol. Cpl. Kritsana Choeiwijit, were on hand to reinforce practical insights on cybercrime, cybersecurity, and current online scamming trends that target young people.

Our Rescue Thailand conducted trainings that addressed human trafficking, online threats, and the online sexual exploitation of children. CCIB shared real world examples of cybercrime cases and explained how online scams operate in today’s digital environment.

Students actively engaged in discussions and hands-on activities. The program also featured a live demonstration by Our Rescue-sponsored ESD K9 Winner, who captured hearts and curiosity, helping children understand that these threats are real and to be taken seriously.

Our Rescue

Teams structured this training to complement each other. Our Rescue Thailand focused on prevention, education, and awareness building, while CCIB provided real life perspective and practical cybersecurity knowledge.

School representatives expressed appreciation to both organizations for delivering meaningful, impactful, and memorable content that helps equip students with the tools they need to stay safe online and offline.

More than ever, NOW IS THE TIME to work together to end human trafficking and child exploitation. Our Rescue is honored to partner with the Royal Thai Police in this fight and we will continue to do all we can to help support safer communities where children and young people across Thailand can thrive.

Together we are stronger. Please donate now to help us continue these critical prevention efforts around the world to stop exploitation before it happens.
