At the busy Nepal/India border, police officers stand as the first line of defense, working to recognize and protect women and children who may be embarking into situations of sex trafficking or exploitation. For many, the risk of trafficking or exploitation is real, driving the urgent need for safe refuge and compassionate care. To support their recovery and protection, Our Rescue partnered with Shakti Samuha—the world’s first survivor-led anti-trafficking organization—to expand a home in Nepal where survivors can heal, grow, and reclaim their lives. Today, we’re pleased to share the final update of this important project.

The purchase of this new home directly responds to the urgent need identified through the border protection efforts, which has helped more than 800 vulnerable individuals since its inception. Many of these survivors previously had limited access to safe housing. This new shelter home now grows from 12 beds to over 30, ensuring more children and young women can access the protection, care, and support they desperately need.

Renovations are already underway, with interior and exterior safety upgrades being finalized. The final property purchase is expected to be completed by the end of October, and survivors will begin moving into the new home in early November. Every detail of the facility, from private rooms to shared spaces, is designed to foster healing, community, and resilience.

This project strengthens local capacity, ensures sustainability through community ownership, and reflects Our Rescue’s ongoing commitment to survivor-led programming.

The shelter is closer than ever to opening its doors, but we still need your help to complete this project.

This is your last chance to contribute to this safe, healing home for children in Nepal. Donate today and help welcome children into a space designed to nurture their hope, restore their dignity, and give them a chance for a better future.
