Over the last 12 months, the Bulgarian Border Police (BBP) have investigated 31 cases of human trafficking and assisted numerous individuals using technical equipment and vehicles that were donated by OUR Rescue.

So far, 14 of the cases have been presented for prosecution, while investigations are ongoing in nine others. Survivors were trafficked to Albania, Bulgaria, France, North Macedonia, and Turkey.

The breakdown of cases is as follows:

  • Sexual exploitation & forced servitude (21)
  • Forced labor (6)
  • Forced marriage (4)

“We are extremely grateful for the aid received by OUR Rescue,” Director of Border Police, Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov said. “We are actively using the donated equipment which is allowing us to improve our capabilities to investigate human trafficking.”

OUR Rescue is proud to work closely with the BBP and other government authorities in Europe and around the globe. Through strong relationships, we are making a sizable impact in the fight against human trafficking.
