Just last week, Our Rescue celebrated a powerful milestone: the largest class of Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K9s we’ve ever sponsored graduated the Jordan Detection K9 program. Now, 11 new ESD K9 teams are ready to support law enforcement agencies across North America in the search for hidden electronic devices used to hide crimes against children, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Each of these highly trained dogs is capable of detecting the scent of electronic devices such as phones, USBs, and hard drives. Together, with their handlers, they make a tangible difference in the fight to put predators behind bars and keep children safe from sexual abuse.

This class marks several historic firsts:

  • For the first time, we’re placing an ESD K9 in Nebraska with the Nebraska State Patrol, K9 Scooter.
  • We also placed our first-ever ESD K9 in Manitoba, Canada, with the Winnipeg Police Service, K9 Willow.
  • All eleven teams were fully funded by generous Our Rescue supporters, but 5 of them were sponsored by individual donors.

Our newest graduating class is ready to hit the ground running. Many of the handlers already have search warrants waiting for them upon there return from training,” says Chaz Balogh, Our Rescue Relationship Manager for North America. “There is no doubt, these newest ESD K9s are going to get the job done.

Meet the newest class of ESD K9s and their agencies:

  • K9 Dexter – Port St. Lucie Police Department, Florida
  • K9 Digi – Lehi City Police Department, Utah
  • K9 Zero – Grantsville City Police Department, Utah
  • K9 Doc – Maine State Police, Maine
  • K9 Sailor – Kill Devil Hills Police Department, North Carolina
  • K9 Doug – Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania
  • K9 Enzo – Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois
  • K9 Mouse – King County Sheriff’s Office, Washington
  • K9 Josie – Mooresville Police Department, North Carolina
  • K9 Scooter – Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska
  • K9 Willow – Winnipeg Police Service, Manitoba, Canada

These teams are already being deployed in real investigations, helping to recover hidden evidence, support prosecutions, and rescue the vulnerable. We’re proud to stand behind the departments and handlers who have committed to this critical work, and we’re grateful to every donor who made these placements possible.
