A man in Latin America was wanted on charges of rape of minors and the production of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) since 2014. The suspected pedophile worked as a children’s music teacher, taking advantage of his trusted position with students to sexually exploit them. Despite his crimes and the charges, he evaded police for over 10 years.
Ecuador National Police (ENP) requested Our Rescue’s help. Our mission team in Ecuador quickly worked to secure investigative resources for ENP in furtherance of this investigation.
In March, the suspect was identified in Quito, where ENP UNAT, with support from Our Rescue, coordinated the operation that led to the music teacher’s arrest.
As our police partners rebuild a 10-year-old cold case against this suspected predator, Our Rescue continues to support their investigative efforts to gather evidence for the prosecution. We will remain on this case until justice can be served for the children he harmed.
According to Polaris, a common tactic predators use is building trust with vulnerable children and then manipulating them into sexual exploitation. Predators come in many forms, including coaches and teachers. That’s why it’s crucial that parents have open communication with their kids about the dangers of sexual exploitation.
