On June 21, 2025, a Bolivian human trafficking survivor was safely repatriated from Lima, Peru to her hometown of Cochabamba, Bolivia thanks to the combined efforts of Our Rescue, the Peruvian Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Lima Region, and the Bolivian Consulate in Lima.
This survivor had endured significant trauma and was living with both physical and intellectual disabilities. She was rescued earlier this year during a police operation carried out by the Peruvian National Police (PNP) in the district of Villa El Salvador. Following the operation, Peruvian authorities asked Our Rescue’s help to assist with her healing.
From the very beginning, Our Rescue provided emergency support to stabilize her situation, including clothing, food, temporary shelter, and access to therapy. As the days turned into weeks, our team remained closely involved, ensuring that both her immediate and long-term care needs were addressed. Her disability required a specialized level of attention, and the Survivor Care Manager in Peru worked tirelessly to coordinate psychological and social services that would help her heal.
This successful repatriation marks a powerful milestone in her journey, from forced sexual exploitation to her regaining her personal freedom, and now, to reuniting with family and discovering new possibilities. In her home country, she will have access to critical psychological, legal, and social services, which will play a vital role in her emotional healing and reintegration process.
We are grateful for the team in Peru, whose ongoing advocacy, compassion, and coordination with multiple international government agencies helped make this moment possible. Every survivor deserves the chance to rebuild a life of dignity and hope.
