When the family friend of a fourteen-year-old Thai boy being cared for by his aunt offered to step in and help, it seemed like an ideal situation. The boy’s parents were both in jail, and the aunt was struggling financially. Receiving care and attention from an adult male would be good for the boy, the aunt believed. Unfortunately, the man wasn’t taking on the boy’s care out of kindness. He immediately began to sexually abuse the boy and film it.
As is often the case, the man decided to not just film the abuse, but distribute the child sexual abuse material (CSAM). He set up a private chat group with a membership fee to view the explicit files It wasn’t long before Thai authorities became aware of this chat group thanks to a previous case in northern Thailand.
Thai authorities contacted Our Rescue for their help in the operation to arrest the fifty-two-year-old. Our team responded with a full range of assistance: experts in field operations and reporting, a digital forensics analyst and an Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K9. This team was able to extract data from the suspect’s mobile phone, including the CSAM and chat history. This evidence will help the Thai authorities with prosecution.
Additionally, three members of the Survivor Care team were also on scene during the operation. Our staff facilitated the connection between local social workers and the Thai authorities. They also explained the full legal process to the boy’s aunt. The Survivor Care team will continue to help the boy who experienced the abuse over a two-month period.
Our Rescue relies on generous donations to provide assistance to local law enforcement so that they can arrest perpetrators and help survivors. We are proud to assist local authorities on CSAM cases and help them prosecute offenders in greater numbers. Please consider donating today!
