First two operations in Indonesia of 2025 strike deep into the heart of digital trafficking networks – 2 suspects arrested.

Part 1: Operation Borneo Bound

Deep in an isolated region of South Kalimantan, one man was quietly distributing images that should never exist. Behind the closed doors of his home, he was selling child sexual abuse material (CSAM), exploiting the anonymity of the internet and the remoteness of his location to avoid detection. For months, the details trickled in to authorities, digital footprints, financial transactions, and screen names that pointed to this man’s criminal actions.

It was enough.

On March 10, 2025, after weeks of preparation, a joint team from Our Rescue Indonesia and the Cyber Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim Polri) set out to arrest the suspect. The operation, Operation Borneo Bound, began with a two-hour flight from Jakarta, followed by a five-hour overland journey through Kalimantan’s rugged terrain. The team worked through the night, knowing the opportunity to intervene was urgent.

In coordination with the Hulu Sungai Tengah Resort Police under the South Kalimantan Regional Police, surveillance confirmed the suspect was home. The arrest team mobilized swiftly, launching the operation with precision.

Inside the house, the team uncovered vital evidence: a laptop, multiple mobile phones, bank books, and ATM cards—all used by the suspect to facilitate the trafficking of the CSAM. When authorities confronted him with the evidence, he confessed on the spot. The suspect was then detained and transferred to Jakarta the following day to face further investigation and prosecution.

Operation Borneo Bound’s success went far beyond making an arrest. This coordinated action by local and national law enforcement, alongside Our Rescue Indonesia, broke through even the most remote hiding places of digital exploitation.

Our team on the ground remains committed to helping law enforcement fight child sexual exploitation by bringing resources, expertise, and our resolve to support those on the front lines of justice. We applaud authorities in Indonesia for their collaboration, and refusal to look away from the problem.

Just hours after this arrest, on March 12, our team boarded another flight. Another case. Another predator.

Stay tuned for the next 24.
