Amy Bruins

Vice President, Community Impact

Amy Bruins is an experienced implementer of community development, humanitarian assistance, countertrafficking and protection programs. She is skilled in capacity building, program design and management, contract compliance and oversight, strategy development and implementation, process and systems improvement, and safeguarding.

 

Prior to joining Our Rescue, Amy led a $99-million USAID program advancing inclusive development in 100+ countries; countertrafficking efforts in the Middle East and North Africa with the American Bar Association, Rule of Law Initiative; the American Red Cross’ $42-million humanitarian response after Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas; and USAID-Afghanistan’s multi-billion dollar portfolio in Northern Afghanistan. Amy also managed protection, child protection, and counter-trafficking programming in Rohingya displacement camps in Western Myanmar and has served as a longtime survivor advocate in the United States.

 

Amy has a Juris Doctorate and a Master of Arts in International Human Rights from the University of Denver, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Harvard University. She is licensed to practice law in the state of New York; has worked in Afghanistan, the Bahamas, Bosnia, Liberia, Myanmar, and Tanzania; and has advanced language skills in Kiswahili and intermediate skills in French.
