The Women of OUR Rescue Africa

The Women of OUR Rescue Africa
March 28, 24

Chosen by the United Nations, the theme for International Women’s Day 2024 was “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.” This day, celebrated on March 8 every year, is an opportunity to highlight the amazing impacts women have in every aspect of life.

As Women’s History Month 2024 continues, we are highlighting some of the amazing women that make OUR Rescue an asset in the fight against child sexual exploitation and human trafficking worldwide.

The following four OUR Rescue employees are invested in saving the lives of those in need and accelerating our efforts to help make the world a better place for future generations. There are also many other women on our teams all around the world who courageously work every day to end child exploitation and human trafficking. We are thankful for each and every one of them.

Janet
Child & Victim Advocate

OUR Rescue has benefitted greatly from Janet’s work for the past 10 years, making her one of the longest tenured employees at the organization. She prioritizes the healthy recovery of survivors in Africa, ensuring all aftercare needs are met.

“I believe every girl and woman should live in her society freely, without having to look across her shoulders in fear of being abused or assaulted. It is this belief that drives me every day to put my all at work, despite how distressful it can be sometimes due to the grave nature of some of the cases I handle. At the end of it all, I get to put a smile on a face of that vulnerable girl/woman who thought all hope was lost,” Janet says.

Perpetual
Outreach Coordinator

Perpetual has been with OUR since February of 2021. Her role consists of creating a detailed action plan to raise awareness on child sexual exploitation and human trafficking in schools, churches, and community groups.

“The smiles I see on the faces of children remind me of my duty to care, to give back to humanity, and to help anyone I come across in my capacity as an outreach coordinator. Through my work, I hope to transform an entire generation. This motivates me to work and go beyond my comfort zone,” Perpetual says.

Ruth
Child & Victim Advocate

For nearly eight years now, Ruth has been part of the life-changing work done by OUR. As a Child & Victim Advocate, she serves as a first point of contact for our work. Ruth provides essential survivor care services like accompanying survivors to medical facilities, securing safe shelters, conducting home visits, and arranging trips to clinical psychologists.

“My dedication to rescuing survivors stems from a genuine desire to bring smiles back to their faces and to facilitate their journey towards healing… Together, let us continue to stand for justice and compassion for all,” Ruth says.

Eva
Office Manager

Eva joined the OUR team in the summer of 2023. Her skills are invaluable to our cause. She manages financial planning, budgeting, office operations, human resources, and overall administrative duties for our office in Africa.

“I have been with OUR Ghana for the past eight months. I have enjoyed the experience so far. I feel honored to be part of the fight against human trafficking and sexual abuse. I am always fulfilled when we chalk a successful feat in our field of work,” Eva says.
