A former policeman was sentenced to 143 years in prison in Southeast Asia for exploiting David (name changed), an 11-year-old boy. Photos and videos of this young boy’s exploitation were shared online. The O.U.R. Ops Team provided undercover support with the local law enforcement in order to identify the predator. He was arrested by local law enforcement and was found to be selling explicit photos of David to many other countries including the United States and Australia.
While on trial, the suspected policeman was out on bail. This was very traumatizing and stressful for David, knowing that his trafficker was out there. David and his family did not know what the outcome of the case would be even with his testimony.
Although he had every reason to not want to testify, David bravely testified over 15 times in court with our Aftercare Team in Southeast Asia at his side every time. Aftercare provided onsite support to David and his family while in witness protection. It is important to us to support family units during the aftercare process.
In many ways David is a typical little boy who loves to eat ice cream and play video games, but in other ways he is brave beyond his years. He said, “I don’t want [this trafficker] to be able to hurt any other children and so I wanted to testify.”
