A bill in Hawaii has been introduced to require clergy, commercial film & print image processors, and commercial computer technicians to report potential child abuse situations. It mentions that Hawaii “is one of only a handful of states that do not include members of the clergy as mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect.”
9 men were arrested in Ohio for allegedly trading drugs to sexually exploit children. One of the men was arrested in March after offering to pay $80 for access to a 7-year-old girl. Two men were arrested in Orange County for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material. One of the men, 28 years old, was accused of having thousands of inappropriate videos and pictures of children.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided Utah law enforcement with a tip about an IP address that was connected with child sexual abuse material. Police executed a search warrant and arrested two men who possessed multiple pictures of child sexual abuse.
A man in Virginia believed he was messaging a 14 year old girl on the app Kik, when in reality it was an undercover police officer. The suspect sent inappropriate images to the “girl” and also sent other pictures of child sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 10-15 years in prison.
