Here is your weekly roundup of human trafficking stories in the news. We hope to highlight the good work that U.S. law enforcement and citizens are doing to fight human trafficking across the country. This week is special – O.U.R. is mentioned in all of these stories!
Special Agent Hex is North Dakota’s first electronic detection K9 and was funded by Operation Underground Railroad. Trainer Todd Jordan explained that the dogs are taught to sniff out chemicals used in electronic storage devices. These dogs help in investigations by finding small devices with child exploitation material on them.
Joe Anglim and Sierra Dawn Thomas, two previous contestants on the TV show “Survivor”, got married last week. Joe and Sierra have supported Operation Underground Railroad in several ways, including auctioning off art pieces and supporting O.U.R. on Giving Tuesday.
In an interview with Mia Love, she mentions her support for O.U.R. and passion for fighting child sex trafficking.
What’s a trend going on in the U.S. or abroad that doesn’t get enough attention? “The growing child sex trafficking issues going on inside and outside the U.S. I’ve worked closely and have been educated by Operation Underground Railroad on this issue. As a mother, this is a horrifying scourge that must be eradicated from the earth.”
