Slave Stealer Podcast 9: Failure in Colombia

In this episode of Slave Stealer, Tim Ballard and Mark Mabry talk about the first trip to Colombia that did not go according to plan. They had to return after a failed mission. Despite this setback, which is portrayed in “The Abolitionists,” the team goes back to rescue those kids and saves even more kids than they thought was possible. The “Abolitionists” is O.U.R.’s documentary.

Operation Genesis was the first operation that Tim Ballard and the O.U.R. team went on. Ballard recalls the pressure of the operation because they only had enough money for a couple of operations. If they failed, they would be out of business. In this episode, Tim Ballard delves into the details of the failure of their first mission in Colombia. Better yet, he also describes the success they had when they got a second chance in that same area.

Tim also explains how the film addresses the misconceptions that people might have about the legality of O.U.R.’s operations, and he also discredits false claims that others in the anti-trafficking community have made about the organization.
