O.U.R. Trains a New Street Outreach Team

O.U.R. Aftercare has been involved in street outreach to victims for the last few years through partnerships with a local church and government agencies. Recently, there was a request for additional outreach teams.

We believe strongly in empowering and training any volunteers that assist with outreach. We were honored to have Mike and Marisa Johnson co-lead the training. They were our first Love in Action volunteers that served internationally in the Caribbean for O.U.R. for one year. Matt Pierce, who has provided medical outreach in the past, and Brett Bunker, the president of our Board of Governors, also assisted in the training.

Our incredible partners and full-time O.U.R. staff were able to train 30 additional people to start our new outreach team. The purpose of this training was to build up additional leaders to provide loving non-judgmental support to women and children who are at high risk for exploitation or are currently being sexually exploited that struggle with chronic homelessness.

There are many different ways that people end up on the streets. We partner with holistic aftercare services throughout the United States to provide places of healing and hope for those we meet. Many victims don’t even realize that they are being trafficked. They often times think the trafficker is a boyfriend, a person trying to be a father figure or a friend, and it is not until someone steps into their life that they are able to identify what is actually happening to them.

We are excited for this team to go out and spread hope to those in need.

Hope, Love, Collaboration; this is pre and post Aftercare.
